RE-SIZING AN IMAGE
  • Always resize the image after you have finished working on it. If you resize first the file will be too big, and the computer will takemore time, a much slower way to work.
  • Go to Image/ Image Size
  • Make sure you click the Constrain Proportions box and the Box below also
  • At this stage do not take any notice of the Pixels size boxes
  • Alter your size -   height and width (either in inches or cms)eg. 10” x 8”, you will find the size adjusts in proportion.
  • Change the DPI to 300 if printing up to A4 400 if larger.
  • If the image is approx 10” x 8” or (200cmsx250cms) the size of the file should be about 30 to 40mg

TO APPLY THE "UNSHARP MASK" FILTER

  • Filter Menu/ Sharpen/ Unsharp Mask
  • AMOUNT -  Use low setting ..  50 for people or natural objects, higher if the image contains sharp edged objects (the larger the image the less sharpening may be required)  For a high resolution image use an amount between 250% to 200%
  • RADIUS - Cosider the final size, the resolution, and the subject matter.  Suggest using  1.0 a higher value could produce too much contrast in areas that have a high contrast.
  • THRESHOLD - At 0, filter will be applied to the whole image, to prevent noise from distorting skin tones use 8.

      TIP:                       Amount      Radius      Threshold

      For portraits            80               1.0               8

      For Flowers           190              1.5               0

      For Landscapes   150              1.0               4
